Rigging.

This will be my first attempt at a fully working rig.

Here's the set-up I'm currently using:



This works pretty well for still-images.


Though for animation it still wont deform properly and weighting this thing is also a major pain in the ass.

I'll keep at it though, have to learn sometime.

My latest 3D nightmare.

I'll admit it, I'm a dinosaur fan so I tried my hand at another dinosaur.

This time its the Velociraptor from Jurassic Park 3.

This is the first time I used the polypaint feature from z-brush and my first attempt pretty much sucked:



Though I'm happy with the model, the colours and displacement are nowhere near where I'd like them to be.

So it was time to grab a lot of reference images and head back to Z-brush.



Now thats better, the colours have alot more depth and the displacement also shows a lot more detail.

Now to try my hand at rigging.

Latest work.

Well, its been like a billion years since I last updated my blog but with some new (and some not so new) work to post I thought it was about time I did.

First up, the award winning (I never get tired of typing that) music video for the band "Monstertux" which I directed last year.

The video was produced by Marielle Alferink with camera work by Jaap Elzes, production design by me and Anna Blaauw.

Jaap-Jan Paulusma was in charge of the lighting and together with me edited the video.

T-rex is done.

So, its been a wile since my last blog update but my T-rex is done and I'm off to a new project (wich I'll also post here) so now is a good a time as any to get my blog up and running again.

Here's my rex from beginning to final image.
This project was purely about moddeling so no textures (yet).

Feet it! It has feet! This was by far the hardest part of the project to get done.



Posing time! Decided on a camera angle and a nice pose for my rex, though I see his hindleg is sticking through the ground, woops.

So, thats it for my rex for the time being, now I'm off to a much more difficult project, character moddeling.
